Resistance Is Futile?

Despite mounting pressure, I have thus far remained the only person in my circle of friends who's not on Facebook. I didn't want my already-neglected blog (or, for that matter, my children) to have to compete with it for my time... and if my husband and housemates are any indication, a Facebook account takes hours a day to maintain. Furthermore, I'm starting to think the reason you need all your friends to post profile pictures is so you remember what the bottom half of their faces -- you know, the part perpetually obscured by their laptop screens -- look like.

*sigh*

Yeah, I'll probably have an account there sometime next month. Look me up.

I, too, am holding out. I don't want one more thing that I can't keep up with, especially something that makes you think you are keeping relationship with people with one-liners. I'd much rather falter with my few real relationships than try to keep many people informed with life synopsis. Kind of weird to me. But, there is the chance that all our friends on facebook will forget about us since we aren't in their list of friends!

I do have a facebook account. And frankly it's WAY over rated. Oh wow...another Facebook "friend". Whoopee. It's hardly even close to real community. It doesn't even make a good pseudo-community. And it's got like a gajillion mostly annoying applications that aren't even close to warrenting my time. Feh.

How's that for cynical??? ;P

My advice: Hold to your Facebook abstention!

Yes, don't do facebook. It's dumb. I did facebook because I did not know how to start a blog. I just figured it out this past weekend and so I'm ditching my facebook.
