Sugar and Spice

Yup -- finally got confirmation yesterday that Sugar Bean is a GIRL. We'd suspected it all along, and I'm really excited... but as a lifelong tomboy, I'm still trying to wrap my mind around what kind of mommy I'll be to a daughter.

Thanks to Kristen -- photographer extraordinaire, equally un-girly girl and mother to the gorgeous pirate below, I have hope...

I have a girl who is perfect for me...God knew...imagine that. She is not into fashion, make-up, or jewelry, but you most like will always catch her in a skirt. She is very eclectic and loves to create and design. She is determined and yet delicate with what she puts her hands to. She is beautiful, and yet innocently simple. i was thinking that you might be blessed by having had a boy first - all the moms i know with princesses have one thing in common - no older brothers. i'm sure this isn't prescriptive.

the great thing is the we love our children for who THEY are, not for who we want them to be. and there is so much freedom in that.
